Greenfield Elementary School Reviews

My son began attending Greenfield last year. He flourished there. His teacher was excellent. I do agree more activities/clubs after school are needed and desired. Where is the chess club? Pittsburgh School District's focus has become teaching material from a book that will raise test scores.

my son has been going to this school for 5 years (and counting) and he still loves it, he almost never gets back home with a frown.

I'm an 8th grader at greenfield school. Let's start with the food. It's horrible an unhealthy. Don't give us stuff you wouldnt eat. If you would eat it come to our school and let's see you eat it for 9 months. The teachers. Some are nice but some.. Greenfield school is a horrible place to send your children. Dont send your children there unless you like your child to be bullied, or treated unfairly by students or teachers, or half to gain weight due to the horrible food, or get blamed for things that others dont. Noone will ask your child what they think because noone actually cares, except Mrs. Peghar.

I have had kids there in grades K, 1, 4, and 5. There's a swimming pool, great art program, and some wonderful, caring teachers. The special ed program is especially good. Academically I found them quite satisfactory. The student body is very diverse for a Pittsburgh school. I would recommend this school to anyone.

I can only speak of 6th-8th grade. Greenfield has a very friendly environment. Like most places, there is good and bad. Some teacher's seem to care about the students, while others are there to collect a paycheck. I focus on academics. Having said this, I am disappointed by the work. Math concentrates mainly on graphs, Have we done away with long division? I work with my children at home to prepare them for high school. I have serious reservations as to how well these children are being prepared for high school. My child has yet to be assigned a book report. Very little homework is given in math, and science. All in all, I feel Greenfield may be the best of a bad group. On a personal level, I'll try to move into a better school district to help ensure a better education.

I think the atmosphere here is fantastic. There are wonderful music and art programs, and the teachers are extremely helpful and concerned with each child. I feel the structured discipline is great.

This school, while academically quite satisfactory, offers little else for students, especially younger ones. There are no after-school programs until after the 4th grade, and no playground. The upper grades do not have the opportunity of serving on a student council. The teachers of the lower grades seem to be very good in their individual classes: however, the focus of the school as a whole seems to be on maintaining strict order among older students, with little thought given to providing a top elementary school experience.
