Centennial Elementary School Reviews
Quality Score: 2 Post Date:2008-09-30
“The teachers and administration treated my son and I kindly; however he was the only student who needed ESL and was placed into title 1 reading instead of the specialized classes learners of English as a second language need. The school reacted quickly to help us transfer out and I was happy about that. I wasn't happy that I was told he would have the ESL support at Centennial and wished my son didn't need to transition to another school after adjusting to a new country within a couple of months. Also, I think the curriculum could be more challenging, especially in math.” This review was posted by a parent.

“Ms. Gorden and all of the teachers have been very helpful, I am an active member of the PTO and wish more parents came to share their views and attend the wonderful Title 1 ideas on learning and teaching.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I have one child graduated from this school, two currently in it now, and one more coming in next month. I think that the principal is wonderful, but there needs to be more help for those who need it. My child has problems with reading and I dont think that there is as much of a focus on this as there should be. My children went to Geroge washington in the same scholl district for awhile and there was more for the kids and parents. It suprised me how much diffrence there is between the two schools. I would love for this school to pick up the same reading programs that G.W. has because my older kids are excelling and I think that has to do with how they were taught to read.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I have one child leaving Centennial and another entering. I have been pleased with the teachers as well as the principal. I do think that the students should be exposed to a language (ie, Spanish) and I would have liked to see letter grades before third grade.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I think the students at this school are capable of a higher level of education, and are not being provided with it. The general curriculium is boring and not challenging enough and it reflects in a number of students not having a positive overall attitude about attending.” This review was posted by a parent.

“I have had three children go through this building. It is in the best shape possible it could ever be in now. Wonderful teachers, staff, Pam Gordon is a wonderful leader for this building.” This review was posted by a parent.
