The National Aviary in Pittsburgh is the nation's only non-profit aviary, and is the largest of such establishments in the United States. The National Aviary is home to more than 800 birds of more than 250 species from all around the globe. The vivid colors and distinct songs of the birds warmly welcome all who enter. From toucans to penguins to bald eagles, the National Aviary has bird varieties that will delight every member in your family.

Each day, several activities take place in which visitors are encouraged to participate. A daily migration hike lets visitors learn about the migratory habits of several species of birds; Little Peepers Story Time entertains the little ones with stories about our feathered friends as well as craft-making and up-close encounters with friendly birds; The Feathered Chef lets kids and adults cook up yummy fruit and worm skewers for the parrots; Penguin Feeding allows the family to get up-close and personal with hungry African penguins; and Penguin Painting, where visitors can watch penguins paint colorful masterpieces all by themselves.

The Aviary gift shop features lots of unique gifts to help you and your family remember your trip to the Aviary forever. From bird houses to t-shirts and books to stuffed animals, the Aviary gift shop has a gift that will delight anyone who loves nature.

Discounted group rates are available for groups of 15 or more. Lunch is available for groups as well. For more information on scheduling a group trip to the National Aviary, call (214) 323-7235 ext. 209.
